The Petroleum Club
5060 California Avenue – 12th Floor; Bakersfield, California 93309
Map
If you and your friends/spouses/social directors are up for a mellow & classy after-work cool down on a Wednesday night, drop by the Petroleum Club of Bakersfield on California Ave. and be enchanted by the sweet and lovely, young Micah Nacita who will satisfy your ears’ epicurean desires with her jazzy vocal and piano stylings of standards and pop tunes ranging from the Ella Fitzgerald to Alicia Keys and more. It won’t take you but one song to know why this young star has been one of the perennial favorites with audiences across town!
A beautiful and talented young pianist and vocalist, this remarkably mature 21-year-old wunderkind is already a rising star since recently returning from the Los Angeles scene to Bakersfield where she originally made her name playing with the likes of Bakersfield guitar legend, Mike Montano, and the Southside Chicago Seven while leading her own quartet, Jazz Intent. Making a rare Bakersfield appearance, her mellifluous voice and formidable keyboard virtuosity, honed by years of classical training since the age of 6 and by studies with prominent jazz piano pedagogues, Mark Massey and Doug Davis, affords the Duo a boundless array of possibilities. She is one of the latest in a long line of young lions to emerge from the Bakersfield Jazz Workshop where she was discovered by saxophonist and now duo partner, Ray Zepeda. A recent graduate of Bakersfield Christian High School, Ms. Nacita just received her Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles where she studied under jazz luminaries of international import including Kenny Burrell, Clayton Cameron, and Tamir Hendelman.
The duo will also be performing selections from Ray Zepeda’s CD, Step By Step, which has been played on radio stations in major markets nationwide and in select foreign markets (Australia, Japan, England, Singapore, etc.) and enjoyed significant movement on the jazz charts!
